Every Thursday between five and seven, we fill the tables at Struis for aperitivo. We fill the bar with Italian bites that keep on coming, you pick a drink to go with them.
It is the hour between work and evening. Time to land, catch up and raise a glass, without committing to a full dinner.
So what is aperitivo?
In Italy, aperitivo is neither a meal nor the kind of drinks we are used to. It is a ritual at the start of the evening: you order a glass, the bar puts something tasty next to it, and the working day slowly fades.
From Milan to Turin, the city drifts towards the bars around six. People drink in moderation and eat with pleasure, because the idea is to wake up your appetite, not to fill it. It is about being together, not about the clock.
At Struis we do it our way, on the Kraneweg. One fixed price and a bar that stays full. Feel like staying on? Just linger for a glass of wine or a flammkuchen.
What comes to the table
What comes to the table is different every time. Our kitchen simply fills the bar with small Italian bites, think something with focaccia, olives or cured meat, and sometimes something warm. Exactly what depends on the week and on what we feel like making.

The wine, also by the half bottle
With your aperitivo you can have a spritz, a beer or a glass of wine. With two of you, a half bottle of 37.5 cl lets you taste something a little finer without opening a full bottle. Our full list with prices is on the page about our wine bar in Groningen.
